The flowering pears come and gone, and I discovered a little validation annoyance with the original entry.
It turns out that WordPress(+Textile?) puts <p> tags in when you press <enter> a couple times … even if you use block-level markup (like the <blockquote> that I used to set off the poem). It invalidates any page where it occurs—archive page, individual post, &c.—but as it is the only error, I can live with it … though I’ll probably look at the Textile reference page again, just to make sure I haven’t made YABE (yet another bone-headed error).
Edit: goodness, what a greedy beasty! Since it’s code, I should mark it up as such, or at least escape the flagrant HTML entities … hmm?
