Boy, you never realize how crummy the old one is until you replace it. It’s been a few weeks since we replaced the old water heater. I have no idea how we got along before: the water before now seems tepid in comparison, and there never was enough. Now, both of us can take a shower … and there’s still enough hot water to run a load of dishes.

Ah … domestic bliss.

Ah … the joys of condo-ownership.

This morning, after a late-for-work rushed shower, I had an unpleasant surprise. The carpet in the hallway was “squishy” … and sopping wet. It wasn’t that way at 6 AM, according to Jon. I didn’t relish the uncomfortable truth of the situation; but there was no use delaying the inevitable. I opened the cabinet, and found a lot more water than I could explain away as “just condensation”.

I am The Lovers

Originally, this card was called just LOVE. And that’s actually more apt than “Lovers.” Love follows in this sequence of growth and maturity. And, coming after the Emperor, who is about control, it is a radical change in perspective. LOVE is a force that makes you choose and decide for reasons you often can’t understand; it makes you surrender control to a higher power. And that is what this card is all about. Finding something or someone who is so much a part of yourself, so perfectly attuned to you and you to them, that you cannot, dare not resist. This card indicates that the you have or will come across a person, career, challenge or thing that you will fall in love with. You will know instinctively that you must have this, even if it means diverging from your chosen path. No matter the difficulties, without it you will never be complete.

Well, it’s a new year, and it was time for a new theme.

What else?

• I’m not going to beat myself up over not writing more.
• I want to learn a new language … something exotic … like Turkish or Vietnamese
• I’m not going to beat myself up over not having the patience to sit down and learn a new language.
• Ditto for not keeping New Year’s resolutions (hooray, I didn’t make any this year!)
• I’m going to try to be less dour—thanks honey for the cheery yellow-and-white striped afghan)
• I’m not going to beat myself … okay, it’s a running joke, I think they got it.

So … how has the first month of the new year gone for everyone else? (Goodness … a whole month gone already? Where does the time go?)
